Technical Product Manager

Role
As Technical Product Manager, you will analyze product requirements identified by product managers, and create detailed functional requirements to be utilized by development teams for scoping, development and validation of products.
This position is based at our Canadian office in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Main duties
- Collaborate with prospects, customers and product managers to understand product and user requirements
- Analyze workflows, assess environmental factors, and identify usage/usability requirements
- Develop stories and or detailed functional requirements based on user profiles with direction from product managers
- Develop and document acceptance criteria in cooperation with product managers to assure features meet the spirit of the stated requirements
- Conduct internal and external design reviews to validate detailed functional requirements
- Collaborate with developers to ensure that applications meet functional requirements

- Maintain a prioritized list of customers’ feature requests and technical improvements
- Maintain knowledge of competitors’ product offerings, market opportunities and gaps in the Sophos product
- Act as a subject matter expert for assigned products, providing information and guidance to Sales, Marketing and Technical Support to assist in sales and customer issue resolution.
- Provide specialist information and guidance to Product Management colleagues at regular team meetings so that activities of other projects and programs can be aligned.
- Provide the Product Marketing Managers with core product documentation and training to support collateral development, product launch and marketing activities.
- Represent portfolio of products to customers and channel partners to support specific requests from Sales.
- Work with the Engineering Management team to ensure that possible projects relating to assigned group of products are flagged in advance and the concerns and issues impacting Engineering are understood as part of the decision making process. Drive decision making process, raising impacts on deliverables or schedule to Product Manager.
- Produce a monthly product review/update, highlighting deviations that remain unresolved and reviewing potential solutions with the Engineering team and other stakeholders. Ensure prioritization is understood and seek guidance on conflicts where necessary.
- Act as a point of contact for the Program Management team during the development phase and provide recommendations and decisions to ensure development activities meet product requirements.
- Evaluate the technical viability of other products for the purpose of licensing and integration with your product.
Experience and skills
Essential:- Demonstrated ability to apply experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Ability to determine and analyze user needs and apply to functional design
- Understanding of human interface design factors
- Knowledge of extreme programming methodologies
- Demonstrated ability to interact with technical and operational experts both within and outside of the company to establish and meet common goals
- Broad knowledge of electronic security products and/or Sophos products
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
Desirable:
- Four-year degree in Business, Computer Science, or other related field
- 3-5 years in the computer security and/or electronic communications industry
