Sophos PureMessage 5.1 boosts email security and performance through locally hosted reputation filtering Increased per-minute message processing speeds throughput and policy management, saving valuable network resources
Sophos, a world leader in integrated threat management, announces PureMessage for UNIX 5.1, the company’s enhanced email gateway solution. PureMessage 5.1 is the first email gateway to employ locally hosted reputation filtering technology that checks the source data of incoming messages against an extensive and constantly updated database of known spammers, eradicating messages originating from known violators. The resulting efficiencies can increase email processing speed by 50 percent or more, saving time and valuable network resources.
In addition, PureMessage’s end-user controls have been expanded. An intelligent predictive algorithm enables it to scan and identify the language source of each inbound message and present it to the user in a readable fashion in both the email summary and within the email console. This level of simplification, including an improved display of various Asian-characters, means greater email management efficiency for organizations with multi-national mail streams or for companies with operations, partners, customers, and/or suppliers in Asia.
"These new processing efficiencies, in combination with Sophos’s leading threat detection and prevention capabilities, provide an industry-best level of throughput as well as our already recognized superior ability to manage the entire email threat spectrum, including viruses, phishing scams, international spam, foreign languages and characters, and hoaxes," said Chris Kraft, vice president of product management at Sophos.
PureMessage 5.1 includes additional features, such as spam genotyping, a proprietary system for identifying and blocking spam campaigns, to further increase efficiency and threat protection. PureMessage, and all of Sophos’s products and services, are backed up by SophosLabs, Sophos’s global network of spam detection and analysis centers, providing additional protection against viruses, phishing scams, and zombie infection.
