Sophos Endpoint Security and Control receives 5 stars in PC Pro review

IT security and control firm Sophos announced today that PC Pro conducted a product review of Sophos's endpoint offering, where it was awarded 5 out of 6 stars and noted to be effective protection against threats on Windows, Macintosh, Linux and NetWare systems.

The review, in the November 2007 edition of PC Pro, concluded that Sophos Endpoint Security and Control, built upon its tried-and-tested architecture, provides strong coverage for the networked environment. New features like application control, which blocks unauthorised games and programs as well as buffer overflow monitoring via its host intrusion prevention system (HIPS) gives administrators more control over what behavior and processes are allowed to take place on their network.

With a single console to deploy the software, manage policies, and report on security across the network, Sophos Endpoint Security and Control combines anti-virus and client firewall protection to secure desktops, laptops and file servers.

Sophos Endpoint Security and Control features a single agent and single automated console for anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, host intrusion prevention and application control

"Customers are demanding stronger but simpler security, which is why we have built extra security features, like behavioral protection (HIPS) and application control, into our single anti-virus agent and made them very simple to manage. We also allow customers to manage their Windows, Mac or Linux computers all from a single console," explained John Shaw, group product manager at Sophos. "Companies have learned that monitoring and maintaining several solutions just isn't cost effective. We are happy that the market, as well as reviewers like PC Pro, like what we have accomplished."

Sophos delivers complete protection against viruses, spyware and adware, and controls VoIP, IM, P2P and games. The automated console provides a single point from which to deploy, update and report on both the anti-virus and firewall protection across the network.
