Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS 8 or OS 9: updating with new virus identities (IDEs)
This product is nearing retirement. We strongly recommend that you upgrade in order to ensure your protection stays fully up to date.
Sophos
What to do
To add new virus identities:
- On a single workstation: place the new IDE file(s) in the
System Folder |Preferences|Sophos folder on each Mac OS 8 or 9 workstation. If the on-access scanner (InterCheck) has been installed, restart the Macintosh. If the SophosAnti-Virus on-demand scanner only has been installed, restart it. - On a network: place the new IDE file(s) in the
macinst|IDEfolder on the server from which the central installation was made. If the on-access scanner (InterCheck) has been installed on the workstations, users will be prompted to restart their Macintoshes. If the SophosAnti-Virus on-demand scanner only has been installed, the new IDEs will be recognised as soon as SophosAnti-Virus is restarted on the workstations.
Note: Old IDE files are not automatically deleted from Central Installation Directories (CIDs). You should delete them and replace them with IDEs for the correct version.
