Sophos Anti-Virus for UNIX/Linux: central virus reporting information and the system log
There are several reasons why the InterCheck messaging (central virus reporting) component of Sophos
What to do
Check the following:
- InterCheck Server might not be running.
- The system log file might be full.
- InterCheck reporting might be set at too low a level. The default level is VIRUS, where only virus alerts and fatal errors are logged to syslog. If the level is set to NONE, no messages will be logged.
If reporting levels are too low, InterCheck might fail to generate syslog information. See 'Configuring central reporting' in the 'Central reporting' chapter of the SophosAnti-Virus for UNIX user manual for details. - The syslog configuration file might not be set up properly. This should specify where to send InterCheck log messages and specify messages of a high enough level. See 'Configuring central reporting' in the 'Central reporting' chapter of the Sophos
