Sophos Anti-Virus SBE: installation will fail on Windows 98/Me computers if Sophos Anti-Virus is already present

If Sophos Anti-Virus is already installed on a Windows 98 or Windows Me computer, you must remove it before installing Sophos Anti-Virus Small Business Edition (SBE).

This article describes how to uninstall Sophos Anti-Virus from a Windows 98/Me computer.

What to do

At the Windows taskbar, select Start|Settings|Control Panel
double-click 'Add/Remove Programs'
select 'Sophos Anti-Virus', and click 'Add/Remove'
follow the instructions on the screen.

If Sophos Anti-Virus is not present in 'Add/Remove Programs', do as follows

At the Windows taskbar, select Start|Run
browse to C:\Program Files\Sophos SWEEP
double-click 'setup.exe'
at the very end of the path in the Run window, type a space followed by -remove
(e.g. "C:\Program Files\Sophos\Sophos Anti-Virus\setup.exe" -remove)
follow the instructions on the screen.
