Sophos Anti-Virus SBE: access to computers with Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows 2003 Service Pack 1

When Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) or Windows 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is installed onto a computer in a network running Sophos Anti-Virus Small Business Edition (SBE), 'File and Printer Sharing' may be disabled by default in the Windows Firewall. This will cause Windows XP or Windows 2003 computers not to be available in the Sophos Control Center console list and the 'Protect new computers' wizard.

What to do

• If you are using an alternative firewall which has granted access to Sophos Anti-Virus SBE, disable the Windows Firewall.
• To use the Windows Firewall in conjunction with Sophos Anti-Virus SBE, enable file and printer sharing.
