Sophos Anti-Virus for NetApp Storage Systems: infected files not detected although the anti-virus server is running

With Sophos Anti-Virus for NetApp Storage Systems, infected files may not be detected if the C$ (administrative) share is absent. This can happen even if the anti-virus server is running, and is connected to the NetApp filer.

What to do

Check that the administrative share has not been removed from the NetApp filer.
