EM Library: additional/alternative configuration options
Alternative configuration options for EM Library, version 1.2 and above, are available:
To prevent polling of remote libraries
The EM Library console polls remote libraries for their status once per second, creating additional network traffic. To stop this, you must edit the registry. Read the Microsoft warning, before you edit the registry.
Create a new DWORD registry value:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sophos\Enterprise Manager\DisableTaskMonitoring
and set it to the value "1".
The 'eminstall.conf' configuration script
On Sophos
eminstall.sh -c <full path and file name of eminstall.conf>
for example,
eminstall.sh -c /usr/local/etc/em.conf
You can use a different path (i.e. not /etc) to the configuration file, and also give it any name you want.
- When you upgrade an EM 1.0x library to an EM Library 1.2 library, instead of being prompted to convert the library whenever you change any of its settings, you will simply be warned that it has not been converted yet. The library can be converted to the new format in 'Library |Properties'. This will allow settings such as integrity checking and Central Installation Directory (CID) credentials to be preserved.
- You can connect to parent HTTP libraries via a non-standard port by using the following syntax:
http://url:port/path
