EM Library: password caching causes Internet Explorer 401 errors and download failures
Password caching can cause Internet Explorer 401 errors when downloading, and failures when EM Library authenticates with the databank. This is particularly the case with temporary evaluation passwords.
Internet Explorer allows you to cache your passwords, and some users do this for ease of access to the downloads section of the website. However, this can cause problems if the password is changed, as all future access will be blocked with the internet error message:
401 - Unauthorized
What to do
Follow the advice in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 229940, How to Disable Internet Explorer Password Caching.
