EM Library: an error message is generated, containing INDEX 0x800704c3

When deploying with EM Library, the following error message is displayed in the message log:

The \\SERVER\SophosEM library deploy task has succeeded, but there were exceptions that might require further attention.
Central installation \\SERVER\InterChk\NTInst\i386 is up to date.
Failed to connect to CID \SERVER\InterChk\NTInst\i386 using <user>. INDEX 0x800704c3

When you check the account details in Tools|Options|Security, you will see the error:

It was not possible to read the list of trustees from the computer <computername>; error code 0x000008ac.

If you try to manually add a user or group, you get the error:

Failed to set the list of accounts allowed to access EM Library on <computername>, error 0x2220.

The most likely cause for this error is that the 'EMLibrary Users' group was not created correctly during installation, or has been removed.

What to do

In Active Directory (or Computer Management if the computer is not a Domain Controller) add a new group called 'EMLibrary Users' and add the required accounts to that group. (Use Domain\Administrator and the EM Library account if there is one, or use EMLibUser1 if it was created automatically).
Refer to your Windows documentation for details of how to work with users and groups.

You should now be able to access the accounts list and see all details. You can also change the EM Library account in the same place if required.

If you need more information or guidance, then please contact technical support.
