Enterprise Console: firewall alert cannot be removed from console

In some circumstances the following error message will be displayed in Enterprise Console for one or more workstations, and will not be removable

Some of the installation options that you have specified are not supported

This can happen where:

The version 2 remote console gives you a 'Protect computers' option to deploy the Sophos Client Firewall to your workstations. However, the Sophos Client Firewall is not present in the Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+ version 5 packages available via EM Library version 1.2. Thus, the error message is correctly reporting that it cannot install the non-existent firewall. The console will continue to display this alert until the firewall is actually installed, or the computers are reinstalled without the firewall option being selected.

What to do

You should upgrade your network to the latest versions of Sophos products.

If you cannot upgrade to the latest versions of Sophos products, reinstall the affected computer without the Sophos Client Firewall option.

Note: Do not attempt to deploy the Sophos Client Firewall until you have created suitably located central installation directories (CIDs) containing both the anti-virus and firewall packages.
