Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X: version 4.8

Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X, version 4.8, is now released.

Enhancements to version 4.8

Intel support
This new version of Sophos Anti-Virus supports both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs, including the iMac, MacBook, and Mac Mini. If you have mixture of new and old Macs you will not need to use multiple versions of Sophos Anti-Virus.

Exclusion handling
This enables you to exclude certain files from being scanned, allowing you to improve performance by customizing your on-access scanner.

If you wish to centrally configure Mac exclusions, you can still use the Mac configuration tool, Sophos Update Manager, that is already included in Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X.

Exclusion handling can be configured from Sophos Enterprise Console, version 2. Details of how to configure exclusion handling can be found in the online Help.

Obtaining Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X, version 4.8

The new version will be available for download from the Sophos website. You will need the download credentials (username and password) that you use to access the Sophos website.

If you are running Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X, version 4.7, your software will be upgraded during your regular Sophos update. You may find that the download takes slightly longer than previously because the package providing the new functionality is larger than usual.
