Sophos Client Firewall: using with Cisco VPN Client

When using Sophos Client Firewall with the Cisco VPN Client, your computer may freeze when connecting to the remote host.

What to do

  1. Disable the Stateful Firewall feature in the Cisco VPN Client.
  2. Remove the files vsdata.dll and vsdatant.sys (usually in C:\Windows\System32) from your computer.
  3. Reboot your computer.
If you have problems with running in interactive mode, or experience Virtual Private Network (VPN) server packets dropping, do as follows:
  1. In the Sophos Client Firewall configuration editor, select the Global Rules tab.
  2. Click 'Add' and create the following rule:

    where the protocol is TCP
      and where the direction is Outbound
      and where the remote host is (your VPN host address)
      and where the remote port is (your VPN port number)
    Allow it.
