Sophos small business solutions: reverting to the client firewall default policy
If your configuration for the Sophos small business solutions version of the Sophos Client Firewall has become corrupt, you might need to revert to the default configuration. This is the outbound only mode that is established when first installing.
- Where possible, import a backed up configuration instead.
- You might be able to retrieve a clean configuration from a workstation that was switched off when the corrupt configuration was deployed.
Note: This will overwrite your existing configuration. Only do this if you cannot recover a good configuration.
What to do
1. Using the Sophos Control Center
- Open Sophos Control Center.
- In the left hand pane, select 'Configure firewall'.
- In the welcome screen, click 'Next'.
- In 'Enable firewall', ensure that 'Turn on firewall (recommended)' is selected.
- Click 'Next'.
- In 'Protection type', select 'Factory settings'.
- Click 'Next'.
- Click 'Finish'.
When your computers next update they will be using outbound only mode.
2. At the individual workstation
- Right-click the firewall (brick wall) icon in the System tray.
- Select 'Configure'.
- In the General tab, click 'Default'.
- Click 'OK'.
