Enterprise Console: the database
Enterprise Console uses a SQL server type database, installed by MSDE 2000 when Enterprise Console is set up.
Default instances and database names
The default instance and database names are as follows:
| Enterprise Console version | Instance name | Database name |
|---|---|---|
| Enterprise Console version 2 | SOPHOS | SOPHOS2 |
| Enterprise Console version 3 | SOPHOS | SOPHOS3 |
| Enterprise Console version 1 (obsolete) | SOPHOS | SOPHOS |
Supported databases
By default, Sophos Endpoint Security and Control installs MSDE version 2. However, the following Microsoft SQL databases can also be used to host the Sophos database:
- MSDE (version 8.00.760, Service Pack 2 (default install))
- MS SQL Server 2000
- MS SQL Server 2005
- MS SQL Server Express 2005
Note: The database can be local or remote to the Sophos Management Service.
Database tables
The database tables are where the Sophos settings and data are stored.
The most important table in the database is the ComputersAndDeletedComputers table, as this contains a configuration information for each computer in the network. Some of the information it contains includes: Name, Operating System, SAVOnAccess, IPAddress, etc.
