Sophos small business solutions: 'Error fffffffd' is reported in the Sophos Control Center

With Sophos small business solutions, Sophos Control Center, version 2, may report the following error after deployment to certain client computers:

Error     fffffffd :     This computer is not yet managed by Sophos Control Center.
It is protected but has not yet reported its status to Sophos Control Center.

This error occurs when Sophos Anti-Virus is deployed to the client computer, but a response has not been received regarding the client's status.

What to do

The component responsible for reporting the client's status to the Sophos Control Center is Sophos Remote Management System (RMS).

If RMS has failed to report back to the server this could be due to a firewall preventing communication. For more information, refer to the article Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows: access to computers with firewalls.

If the problem persists, you will need to access the RMS log files that log all activity performed on the client computer. For more information, refer to the article Sophos Anti-Virus: reading RMS log files.
