MailMonitor: product maintenance and retirement plans
The MailMonitor range of products is now in maintenance. It is no longer be possible to order or renew MailMonitor products. Customers using MailMonitor for SMTP (Windows) or MailMonitor for SMTP (UNIX) will continue to receive technical support for the products until the end of their contract, or until the product retirement date is reached. A retirement list for all products is available elsewhere on the website.
The table below provides an overview of the products affected, and their maintenance and retirement dates:
| Product Name | Maintenance | Retirement |
|---|---|---|
| MailMonitor for Exchange | 1 January 2007 | 31 December 2007 |
| MailMonitor for Notes/Domino | 1 January 2007 | 31 December 2007 |
| MailMonitor for SMTP | 1 January 2007 | 31 December 2008 |
Why have these products been retired?
We want to ensure that our customers are using products which are being actively developed and regularly updated. Excluding new versions of Sophos
Sophos has developed a new range of email security products under the PureMessage software and Email Appliance brands. Since the end of 2006, replacement solutions have been available for each of the MailMonitor products. This removes the final barrier to retiring the MailMonitor product range.
The following table provides an overview of the recommended replacement solutions for each MailMonitor product:
| Product Name | Replacement | Benefits |
|---|---|---|
| MailMonitor for Exchange | PureMessage for Windows/Exchange |
|
| MailMonitor for Notes/Domino | PureMessage for Notes/Domino |
|
| MailMonitor for SMTP | PureMessage for Unix or PureMessage for Windows/Exchange |
|
| Sophos Email Appliance (ES4000) |
|
What should I do next?
We recommend that you migrate from MailMonitor for SMTP to alternative solutions over the next 12 months.
If you need more information or guidance, then please contact technical support.
