Sophos NAC Advanced: Agent registration - Event Source:IAS Event ID:2

This article describes what to do when a connection failed because the remote access permission for the user account was denied (Event Source: IAS, Event ID: 2).

What to do

IAS displays the following warning reason: "The connection attempt failed because remote access permission for the user account was denied. To allow remote access, enable remote access permission for the user account, or, if the user account specifies that access is controlled through the matching remote access policy, enable remote access permission for that remote access policy."

To enable remote access permissions for the user account:

  1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers.
  2. Right-click the user name and select Properties.
  3. Click the Dial-in tab.
  4. Under Remote Access Permission (Dial-in or VPN), click the Allow access option button.
  5. Click OK and exit Active Directory Users and Computers.

To enable remote access permissions for the remote access policy:

  1. Open Internet Authentication Service (IAS).
  2. Click Remote Access Policies.
  3. Right-click the remote access policy name and select Properties.
  4. Click the Grant remote access permission option button.
  5. Click OK and exit IAS.
