Sophos NAC Advanced: Web Agent cannot release renew an IP address on Microsoft Vista computers
This article describes why the Web Agent cannot release renew an IP address on Microsoft Vista. The workaround for this issue is to create a policy for Web Agent users that are using Microsoft Vista, create a new group for these users, and associate the group with the new policy. The new policy must have the Release Renew setting disabled.
What to do
The Web Agent cannot release renew an IP address on Microsoft Vista because this functionality is prevented by the operating system.
To create a policy and disable the Release Renew setting:
- Log into the Sophos NAC Web interface.
- Click Manage > Policies > Create Policy.
- Type or select the appropriate policy information. In the Agent area, select None from the Agent Enforcement Action list box to disable the Release Renew setting.
- Click Save.
To create a group for Vista users:
- Log into the Sophos NAC Web interface.
- Click Manage > Groups > Create Group.
- Type a name and description of the group.
- Click the Policy list box to select the policy with which the group will be associated.
- Click Save.
