What to do

IMPORTANT: This procedure will only provide a partial and very temporary solution. If you create a SophosDatabank key without re-building the keys below it, the computer will very quickly put up another error message. It is more straightforward to re-install the product than to manually rebuild the registry.

You may need to make changes to the registry. Please read the Warning about editing the registry. If you do not know how to edit the registry or are not confident in doing so, you should not attempt.it.

  1. Close the Sophos Control Center.
  2. Check in the registry to see if the following entry exists
    • HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Sophos\SBE\Management Tools\SophosDatabank
  3. If this does not exist you must create it, and call it SophosDatabank.
  4. Modify the value Data to http://sbe-latest-2.sophos.com/update
