Sophos Control Center: error 'Could not complete the last task'
Issue
When you click 'Configure updating' in the Sophos Control Center, an error is displayed:
Could not complete the last task
When you click the 'Advanced information' tab, additional information is displayed:

What to do
1. Check the updating address is correct
- Close Sophos Control Center if it is open.
- Right-click the Sophos shield, and select 'Configure Updating'.
- Ensure that the address path is \\<Name of your server>
\Sophos\SAVSCFXP. - Click 'Cancel', and exit from 'Properties'.
2. Reset the Sophos Control Center
- Open My Computer
- go to the folder C:\Program Files\Sophos\SCC\Library\Files. Delete all the files in this folder.
- go to the folder C:\Program Files\Sophos\SCC\Library\SAVSCFXP. Delete all the files in this folder.
- You must now edit the registry. Read the information and warning about this and ensure that you feel confident to do so.
- Click Start|Run, then type
regedit.In the Registry Editor window, browse to the following registry key:
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE|SOFTWARE|Sophos|SBE|Management Tools - In the right-hand pane,
- make sure the value of the CID share is set to \\<name of your server>\Sophos in the Data column
- change the 'SetupStatus' value from 1 to 0
- Exit the registry.
- Create a new Active Directory account 'SophosUpdate' with administrator rights. For details of how to do this, consult your Microsoft documentation.
- Re-start Sophos Control Center. Because you made changes to the registry, it will re-run the setup wizard. When it gets to step 3, select 'Advanced' and enter the 'SophosUpdate' account that you created in step 6.
- Allow the wizard to finish.
