EM Library: when configuring a schedule in a timezone other than UTC, the reported next update time may not be as expected
When configuring a schedule in a timezone other than UTC, the reported next update time may not be as expected.
For example, the machine timezone is set to UTC+9 and the following schedule is configured in EM Library:
- Schedule type: Hourly update
- Days of week: Monday
- Time of day: 08:00
The "Next scheduled update time" is reported as being on the following Tuesday at 08:xx (where xx is a random minute within the hour), rather than the Monday, as expected. The reported next update time, however, will be the time the update takes place.
Specifically, this problem occurs when, at the time chosen, the local day and the UTC day differ. For example, for a machine set to UTC+9, the difference would occur for schedules set to run in the first nine hours of the day. For a machine set to UTC-5, it would occur for schedules set to run in the last five hours of the day.
What to do
To correct this offset, please adjust your scheduled times to accommodate this discrepancy, and until the reported next update time is correct.
To ensure up-to-date protection, Sophos recommends frequent updates where possible.
