Advisory: PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange, version 3.0, updating to version 3.0.1.
PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange, version 3.0.1, was released to the software download area on the Sophos website on 8 January 2008. If you used any workarounds or applied any hotfixes to version 3.0, you may have to reverse these as described in the What to do section before installing this new release.

New features
This update to PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange includes:
- Japanese localization
- New Gateway IDEs
- Fixes for the following issues:
- Some messages result in a Non-Delivery Report (NDR) loop (described in knowledgebase article 30637)
- Disclaimer not added to some outbound messages: error 0x8003001D (described in knowledgebase article 30008)
- Unknown error appears in the ExchangeStoreScan log when scanning messages in the Exchange store.
- Some messages not being sent to external recipients

What to do
- If you used a workaround for issues 1-3 above that have been fixed in version 3.0.1, you should follow the article links above to learn what changes you may need to make to PureMessage before upgrading.
If you were issued with a hotfix for issue 4 above, "some messages not being delivered to external recipients", you should follow the instructions below to remove the hotfix before upgrading.
- Download the latest version and install it according to the instructions in the release notes.
You can upgrade directly from PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange, version 2.6.1 and later. If you are using an earlier version of PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange, please refer to PureMessage for Windows/Exchange: how to upgrade to version 2.6.1 for more information before upgrading to version 3.0.1.
To remove the hotfix:
- Open a command window and run the following command:
iisreset /stop - Go the 'Bin' folder in the PureMessage installation directory and change the name of the file 'PmIisTransport.dll' to PmIisTransport_301.dll
- Change the name of the file 'PmIisTransport_30.dll' to PmIisTransport.dll
- Run the following from the command prompt:
iisreset /start
