Enterprise Console: how to install the database on to a different computer

Issue
How to install the database on to a different computer to that on which the Enterprise Console and management tools are installed.

Sophos product and version
Enterprise Console 3.0

Operating system
Windows 2000 Server SP4

What to do

1. If the database instance exists on SQL server:

Run the Enterprise Console installer (setup.exe) on the server where you want the console to be located.
Select CUSTOM installation type.
Choose to install all components excluding the 'Database', i.e. select:
- Management Console
- Management Server
- EM Library
Click Next.
When prompted, point to the computer where SQL Server is running.
Continue with the wizard to complete the installation.

2. If the database instance doesn't exists on SQL server:

You must install it first, as described in section 6 of the Large networks configuration guide.
