Advisory: Automatic updating from EM Library causes Sophos Anti-Virus for Netware and Netware 6.5 servers to crash
New features released into the field on 28.05.2008 in an IDE file are causing Sophos Anti-Virus on Netware and Novell Netware 6.5 servers to crash when the new IDE files are added. Other versions of Netware may be affected.
When an update of Sophos Anti-Virus for Netware is made from the EM Library, the running scanners are paused then virus data and all new IDE files are reloaded onto them. New features in the new IDE file were causing Sophos Anti-Virus for Netware to crash. The Netware server also crashes.
What to do
The IDE has been re-released and will update your software automatically from EM Library. Ensure that you are running the latest IDE files by checking that the timestamp on file:
swfexp-c.ide
is later than 1000 GMT 29.05.2008.
If you are running the old IDE file, the problem may still occur.
