Upgrading MSDE to SQL Express 2005 for NAC Advanced 3.04 requires you to uninstall the NAC databases, upgrade to SQL Express, and then upgrade NAC Advanced.
What to do
NAC 3.04 adds support for SQL Express 2005. To upgrade from MSDE to SQL Express 2005, you must peform the following steps so the NAC databases archive and purge data appropriately.
- Put the NAC application server in maintenance mode.
- Uninstall the Sophos NAC Advanced Databases. Uninstalling the NAC databases removes only the files that were used to create the databases and not the actual NAC databases themselves.
- Upgrade MSDE to SQL Express 2005.
- Install the NAC Advanced upgrade.
